Westmoreland 1 Community Solar Plant Slated To Go Online

  • Alt

Town of Westmoreland, NY - One of our developments in Upstate New York, a 2.74MW community solar project, is slated to go online in the next days. Despite adverse weather, interconnection to the local distribution grid has recently been completed and the project is awaiting permission to operate (PTO) from National Grid.

The solar project is one of the last remaining power plants registered under the more consumer-friendly Phase One volumetric crediting program (also called "Net Energy Metering" or "NEM"). Community Solar subscribers are located in the vicinity of the project, as mandated by community solar rules. This solar plant produces enough electricity to meet the demand of 370 large homes or 500 average households.

After completing construction, Y Energy continues to manage the project and subscriber service long-term. One of Y Energy's subsidiaries, Y Energy Services, is a registered DER Agent in the State of New York.

We look forward to expanding on this site and other project sites under development in New York State in order to provide clean energy to thousands of households while cutting electricity costs for our customers throughout.
